Iron infusions are a fast and effective way to boost your iron levels. If you’re experiencing symptoms of iron deficiency, such as fatigue, shortness of breath or dizziness, an iron infusion might be the right solution for you.
An iron infusion is a simple procedure where iron is delivered directly into your bloodstream through an IV drip. This method allows your body to absorb iron more efficiently than oral supplements, making it an excellent option for those who struggle with side effects from tablets or have not seen improvement with other treatments.
Our experienced nurses are all competent in the delivery of iron infusions, and have completed competencies in cannulation and iron infusion management. Our nurses ensure the process is safe, comfortable and tailored to your individual needs.

How long does the procedure take?
Generally the procedure takes approx. 1 hour from start to finish. The actual iron infusion takes around 20-30 minutes.
How much does the procedure cost?
Out of pocket cost ranges from $120-170 depending on consult needs.
What are the side effects?
Common side effects include: Headache, nausea, dizziness, flushes, high blood pressure
Uncommon side effects: Skin rashes and injection site reaction, metallic taste in mouth, skin staining (leakage of the iron into the skin, causing long term brown staining)
Do I need a referral?
No. If your GP has advised to have an iron infusion, you can book an appointment with us – we just require a copy of your blood test results, and if possible a script for the iron (your GP can provide this – please advise when booking if you don’t have one). If you are needing blood tests to investigate iron deficiencies please book in with one of our friendly GPs.
